Project Scope:

Located on the Dorset Coastline lies Meadow Court, a collection of retirement houses in the market town of Bridport. At the rear of several houses, set away from the roads, are a series of well-maintained gardens with sloping lawns that lead to a stream. These gardens are loved by the residents who spend the summer relaxing in the garden, chatting with friends and taking in the wildlife, but for the elderly residents, the sloping lawns were a danger as much as an escape. 

For people in the later stages of life, a small trip or fall can become a long stint in the hospital, leave them with life-changing injuries or, even worse, prove fatal. That is why when it came to updating the gardens, the owners of Meadow Court wanted to put in a series of hand-railed steps down the gardens so residents could confidently use the space. To help them achieve this, they turned to Ezi Klamp for advice.

With over 21 years of experience, Ezi Klamp had the in-house expertise to know exactly what the residents of Meadow court needed, and the ability to get their products onto the site quickly and efficiently with next-day delivery meant the project wasn’t unnecessarily delayed. 

To keep the residents safe in all aspects of the garden, including the patio at the top of the gardens, Ezi Klamp Key Clamp handrails were installed at the height of 1100mm (110cm). This ensured that residents could take a firm and natural grip of the hand rail whilst ascending or descending the stairs; this was particularly important if the lawns were covered in dew. 

To help create a clean look and feel to handrails, Ezi Klamp used a white Polyester Powder coat; not only did this help give the handrails a clean look and feel, but gave it a good contrast against the green of the lawns and allowed people with impaired vision to clearly see them.
